“Property crime is often based on opportunity. Any barrier you can add will lessen the chance of someone accessing your residence or business. By establishing a perimeter fence you can add a level of deterrence that will encourage criminals to seek an easier target,” Wetzel said.

Wetzel also stressed the importance of keeping your fencing in good condition. “If a fence is not maintained, it can actually become a liability and provide easy access into the property,” he said.
