Questions we get asked
Prescott has a lot of rock and caliche. Will that stop the job?
No, but it changes the approach. We use equipment built for breaking through rock and caliche layers, and we'll tell you up front if hitting it changes the timeline.
Do I need a permit for excavation on my property?
Permit requirements depend on what you're digging for and whether your property sits inside Prescott city limits or in unincorporated Yavapai County. We can tell you what applies once we know the scope of the job.
What happens to the dirt you dig out?
We can spread it back over the site, grade it into a low spot, or load it out and haul it away. We'll ask you which you want before we start digging.
Can you excavate on a sloped lot?
Yes. A lot of Prescott properties sit on a grade, and we work with that slope rather than against it, cutting benches or terraces where the job calls for it.
How do you know where utility lines are before you dig?
We call for utility locates before any digging starts, so gas, electric, water, and other buried lines get marked on the ground first.
What's the difference between excavation and grading?
Excavation is digging down — removing material for a foundation, trench, or septic system. Grading is reshaping the surface so water drains correctly and the ground sits at the elevation you need.
